In the Saddle - Taylor Smithwick

CHICKASHA -- More than halfway through the 2010 soccer season at USAO, the Drover women have been struggling the last few weeks in conference play. Taylor Smithwick said the reason for the most recent round of losses is that the athletes are playing individually, instead of as a team. "It was a tough loss at OBU yesterday. I feel like as a team we didn't play as well as we could have," Smithwick said. "Individually is what we've been playing or focusing on more lately. And I think that's where we struggle." Smithwick has been playing soccer under Coach Jimmy Hampton since she was at the club level. It's Hampton's blunt honesty that makes Smithwick enjoy playing soccer for him. "He's pretty straight forward and he doesn't try to make you happy. He tells you what you need to know," she said of Hampton. "He just wants you to be the best player you can."
